Microsoft has redesigned the menu system into tabs and ribbons. While all the features you use are there, they are not necessarily in the same location.
File Format Issue
Office 2007 uses different file formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) than Office 2003 (.doc, .xls, .ppt). To allow users of earlier versions of Office to open your files, you will need to take one of the following steps:
- You may save an Office 2007 file to the earlier version format (.doc, .xls) by clicking the Microsoft Office Button in the upper left corner of the window and then click Save As. In the "Save as type" list at the bottom of the dialog box, click the file type "Word 97-2003 Document". In the file name box, type the file name. Click Save. Note: If you used new features in your Office 2007 file, they will not save as Office 2003. For example, Smart Art, Data series bars, etc. will be lost.
- Or, install the free Microsoft Office Compatibility Tool on the PC that is still running Office 2003 or an earlier version. Download the tool at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx.
