Inexpensive long-distance service is available to everyone on campus. The use of confidential six-digit authorization codes keeps long-distance accounts safe from fraudulent use.

Departments with offices located off-campus can also take advantage of this service. Authorization numbers are issued to individual faculty and staff subscribers to make official long-distance calls from campus and cannot be used for personal calls. Charges are billed to each user's department.

Fees

Call anytime to anywhere in the continental United States for only five cents per minute. International calling fees vary.

Availability

Faculty and staff can sign up for long-distance service through their department supervisor/manager. This service is to be used for business purposes only (please refer to MU Business Policy and Procedure Manual, Section 5:020).

Order Form

Please download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader required for the Long-distance and calling card form. Mac users: If you are using Firefox or have a classic Mac, please save the form to your desktop and open it in Acrobat. For questions, call (573)882-2000 or send an e-mail to the Division of IT.

Form Instructions

Complete the online order form.
Click the Submit button, and Outlook will generate an e-mail (with attached PDF file). Please e-mail the attached PDF file.
From your e-mail client click the Send button and the order is sent to your signatory for review and the Division of IT for processing.
Once the order has been processed, you will be contacted by the Division of IT with instructions.

Changes or Cancellations

Go to the order form above and send a new order marking your changes or cancelation.

Calling Restrictions

You can place calling card, pre-paid, collect, or third-party-billed calls; however, you will not be able to accept collect and/or third-party-billed calls. Remember that calling card, collect, or third-party-billed calls incur surcharges.

In addition, direct-dial long-distance calling (dialing 1 plus the number) and calls placed to 900 numbers are blocked. These restrictions have been put in place to protect you and the University from fraud. Some long-distance carriers, unaware that the Division of IT owns its phone switch, may erroneously tell you that you can use their "1-plus" dialing plan.

You can access other long-distance carriers from campus phones by dialing the carrier's toll-free, 950-xxxx or 10-10-xxx access number.
